"An Outdoor Street Art Exhibition Is About to Open Right Under Your Nose— But You Have To Find It.”

[New York City, September 12, 2020] - With our world being turned upside down these days in ways unimaginable, going to a museum or gallery might not be high on your priority list. However, since we are all still very much in need of outlets that offer a diversion from our current grim reality, why not view works of art in an outdoor setting with an audio guided app that helps you locate them?

Infusing his work with equal dashes of chaos and calculation, Brooklyn artist RAE (aka RAE BK), has clustered a number of new mixed-media works in downtown Manhattan for a project titled`, “Community Spread”. Made mostly from found objects he collects from the city’s streets such as single-use plastic bags, discarded toys, household appliances and other bits of detritus, RAE’s work longs to communicate not just the despair of what we’ve been through, but also the prospect of progress we can control through our attitude towards others and the planet.

Utilizing the new RAE BK app (available September 12) to follow this unsanctioned, open air, street art take-over will have you winding a path from Chinatown to Tribeca, viewing installations seeming to have emerged from the hidden crevices, defunct elevator shafts and ad spaces left with little use in our current phase. At sundown, you will be delivered to your final socially-distanced destination: the side wall of a building where we can all be alone together and watch a video projection of, “Chrysalis”, a short-film by RAE.
